Self-Stabilizing Unidirectional Network Algorithms by Power-Supply (Extended Abstract)

چکیده
Power-supply, a surprisingly simple and new general paradigm for the development of self-stabilizing algorithms in diierent models, is introduced. The paradigm is exempliied by developing simple and eecient self-stabilizing algorithms for leader election and either BFS or DFS spanning tree constructions, in strongly-connected unidirectional and bi-directional dynamic networks (synchronous and asynchronous). The different algorithms stabilize in O(n) time in both synchronous and asynchronous networks without assuming any knowledge about the network topology or size, where n is the total number of nodes. Following the leader election algorithms we present a generic self-stabilizing spanning tree and/or leader election algorithm that produces a whole spectrum of new and ef-cient algorithms for these problems. Two variations that produce either a rooted Depth First Search tree or a rooted Breadth First Search tree are presented.

Service Time of Self-Stabilizing Token Circulation Protocol on Anonymous Unidirectional Rings - Extended Abstract -
Our protocol is a randomized self-stabilizing, meaning that starting from an arbitrary configuration (in response to an arbitrary perturbation modifying the memory state), it reaches (with probability 1) a legitimate configuration (i.e. a configuration with only one token in the network). Once the system is stabilized the circulation of the sole token is 1-fair (i.e. in every round, every proce...

A self-stabilizing algorithm, regardless of the initial system state, converges in finite time to a set of states that satisfy a legitimacy predicate without the need for explicit exception handler of backward recovery. Mutual exclusion is fundamental in the area of distributed computing, by serializing the accesses to a common shared resource. All existing probabilistic self-stabilizing mutual...

متن کاملSelf-Stabilizing -out-of- Exclusion
In this paper, self-stabilizing asynchronous distributed algorithms are given for the -out-ofexclusion problem, a generalization of the mutual exclusion problem, in which there are units of a resource, and any process can request up to units. We consider two network topologies, a tree and a unidirectional ring. The networks are anonymous except for one distinguished process. The ring algorithm ...
متن کاملDirected Link Utilization with Mahalle+
Self-stabilization provides non-masking fault tolerance in distributed systems. Self-stabilizing algorithms (SSA) are defined on the assumption that either the system’s topology is fixed over time or topology changes are isolated events occurring at a very low rate. These assumptions are not valid in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) where link qualities change rapidly. Therefore, neighborhood ma...
